International Oyster Festival // Rome
Finally an elegant and funny Oyster Festival in Rome!
The event will be held from the 11th to the 13th of April 2014 in the fantastic setting of the pensile gardens of the Auditorium Parco della Musica: a 38.000 square meter area on the roofing of Renzo Piano’s complex, the site of many very well attended events.
A DIDACTIC space will be specifically designed to further the knowledge of oysters, their breeding methods, conservation, cleaning and consumption. Experts will teach visitors how to open and taste these products illustrating the product’s different qualities and sizes.
The TASTING area is another great attraction, the piazza is located at the start of the itinerary There, famous chefs will mix and blend international and multicultural influences, in a continuing series of specific micro events.
Itineraries will be planned so that the visitor can always experience the specific theme of the exposition area he is seeing, a journey that offers the opportunity to stop each time in a different site where he can taste and buy different products.
The two cocktail bars and a stage are the arrival points from which the visitor can once again start another journey and delve into the tastes of the sea of a new territory.
Oyster Fest is an eco friendly event: It respects the environment by limiting the use of paper and of other recyclable and non recyclable products.
In particular, the association managing the event will become the promoter of the permanent “OYSTER RECYCLING” program, not present in Italy today.
This specific type of recycling carried out during the event, will be followed by an urban pilot program presented at a press conference attended by the local authorities. The main purpose of this is to launch an eco friendly message of commitment to the shared goal of respecting the environment.
The need to start a recycling of shells project in Italy is a concrete signal of a change of pace, an impulse to reverse the trend of a perceived national paralysis, a signal associating commitment to excellence (its natural consequence).
The Sant’Egidio Community will be involved in the recycling program, managing the disposal of the shells. Thus they can also offer jobs to the needy and less fortunate.
