The 14th Worldwide Alba White Truffle Auction Successfully Held

The most prestigious event in Hong Kong’s culinary agenda – organized by Bombana staff, Mother’s Choice and areté food and wine- successfully took place in the evening of November 10th at three-Michelin-starred 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA. Over HK$2.46m was raised during the evening, breaking last year’s record. The highest bidding price reached Euro€90,000 (approx. HK$932,566.5).
During a sumptuous dinner created by Chef Bombana, the Ambassador of the Alba White Truffle since 2006, guests took part in a captivating auction to bid for six sets of luxury items including the highest quality jumbo truffles from Alba, rare vintage Barolo and Barbaresco wines, luxurious weeklong stays in high-end Italian resorts and private room dinner for 12 persons at 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA.
The evening’s unique six-course menu was created to unleash the incredible aroma of white truffles. The menu starts from a welcome drink followed by “Warm Scampi” and “Organic Egg Confit”, then “Classic Homemade Tagliolini” and “Fassone Tenderloin”, and ending with “Tartufo”. A special selection of wines in Italy was the perfect pairing with the delicacies.
The auction saw the most valuable specimens of six pieces of white truffles weigh 2865g in total. They were bid in five valuable combos auctioned among dining guests at 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA. The biggest specimen of 950 grams was auctioned among dining guests in Hong Kong and guests in Italy at the Hall of Mask at Grinzane Castle, in the heart of the truffle region. The two locations were linked via internet connection and after a breathtaking auction. The biggest specimen was finally assigned to Miss Lee, a Korean buyer with the highest bidding price Euro€90,000 (approx. HK$932,566.5) for a 950g white truffle. Over HK$2.46m was raised during the evening. All profits went to Mother’s Choice.

今次拍賣會的白松露宴由世界名廚Chef Bombana主理,先以「Warm Scampi」作開始,接續以「Organic Egg Confit」、「Classic Homemade Tagliolini」和「Fassone Tenderloin」,最後以甜品「Tartufo」作結。
拍賣會在香港及意大利透過網上直播同步舉行,讓兩地的食家同時參與競投。意大利方面,今屆選址在歷史悠久的Grinzane城堡面具館舉行,是位於意大利白松露原產區阿爾巴(Alba)心臟地帶的傳統拍賣場地。香港的賓客抵餐廳後,一邊享用白松露宴,一邊參與拍賣,氣份熱烈。
拍賣由著名蘇富比拍賣官Robert Sleigh先生親自監督。是夜他推出了6顆分别重206克至950克的白松露以供競投,而當中最重的960克「白金食材」白松露在一輪激烈競投後,最後由韓藉李小姐以最高拍賣價歐羅$9萬元(約港幣$93萬)投得,過程興奮熱熾。投得松露的勝出者將於8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA設宴招待賓客,並由大廚Chef Bombana主理。
