When we think of pasta we often think of Italy
There is a long-standing belief that Marco Polo was the one who brought pasta to Italy…we heard that he is the one who discovered pasta in China and brought it to his home country. Even though some still subscribe to that notion, records we have found indicate that pasta was in the country before Marco Polo’s time.
Like so much of southern Italian life, the Arab invasions of the 8th century heavily influenced the regional cuisine and is the most accepted theory for the introduction of pasta.
We prefer to think that pasta developed simultaneously in China and in the ancient Western world…
